This kit is very basic and is designed especially for the beginner.
With this, you'll create a simple series circuit to get familiar with LEDs and conductive thread.
It contains 3 essential pieces:
-
Conductive
thread,
made from thin strands of spun silver.
It's very flexible like regular thread, but also conducts electricity like
a wire.
You'll use this to connect the other two components.
- Sequin,
a tiny and bright light with crimping beads so
you can stitch it easily.
It can only be connected one way: plus to brass bead, and minus to
silver bead.
-
Battery-switch,
made from trigger fabric, felt, and silver coated nylon.
It contains a builtin battery that turns on when you push it.

Hooking up your kit is really easy:
- Cut the conductive thread into two strands.
- Sew the positive, round tab to the brass bead.
- Sew the negative, straight tab to the the silver bead.
- Push the battery-switch to light up the sequin.
*Brass beads on sequins are positive.
The battery-switch is hard on one side, and squishy on the other.
You should arrange it so the squishy side is up, as it's easier to press.

intermediate kit
which contains a tilt switch.)
